Tari Wala Spicy Chicken

Tariwala chicken Recipe is a very popular Spicy Chicken Gravy prepared in all Punjabi Household, It’s a lip smacking spicy and tangy chicken curry made with whole spices, unique base of fried onion paste, tomato & curd. Tari means Gravy and gravy wala spicy chicken served with hot parathas are the most loved combinations. The juicy tender chicken cooked in hot, spicy and tangy gravy makes it irrestible to want for more.

Step 1

Lets marinate the chicken first, Take chicken in a mixing bowl. Then add some salt, 1/2 tbsp red chilly powder and 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder to this. Now add about 1/2 tbsp of Ginger Garlic Paste. Then goes in about 3-4 tbsp of Curd.Mix all the ingredients well with the Chicken. Marinate for 20-30 mins

Step 2

Heat around 4-5 tbsp of Oil in a Bottom Kadhai and fry the finely sliced onions. Fry the onions on a high flame stirring continuously until crispy brown. Once the onions are crispy brown, transfer them in a plate. In the same oil add 1/4 tbsp of Cumin seeds and let it crackle. Then add 1/2 tbsp of Ginger Garlic Paste and fry them in the oil until the raw smell goes. Now add the marinated chicken pieces and fry them on high flame for a minute. Turn the chicken pieces on other sides occasionally and fry on low/medium flame for 4-5 minutes.

Step 3

Once the chicken is fried add dry masalas – Red Chilly Powder, Coriander Powder, Turmeric Cumin Powder & Salt as per taste. Mix all the masala along with the chicken and fry them together until aromatic. Once the masala is nicely roasted and coated in the chicken add some chopped coriander leaves. Now add chopped tomatoes and cover it with a lid and cook along with the chicken for 8-10 mins.

Step 4

While the chicken is getting cooked, We can make a onions paste along with whole spices. In a mixing jar add Fried onions and whole spices and without adding water grind it to a fine paste. Open the lid and check the chicken. Now once the tomatoes are cooked add the onion paste to the chicken. Mix it well with the chicken, the gravy has got a thick consistency and nice color due to the onion paste. Now add around 3 tbsp of curd and mix it well , a nice thick masala is form. Then add around 3/4 glass of water and mix it well, You can add water as per the gravy consistency required. Check the seasoning and add salt if required. Add some chopped coriander leaves and let it boil for 4-5 mins so the flavours blend together. The Tariwala Chicken is ready now and can be served hot with Naan/Paratha/Rice.
